9 times out of 10 people will take what they want from someone they don’t know and not properly pay them for their product/service. No one cares about the foreign workers who are working for slave wages to make as cheap as possible the things we buy on a regular basis every day. Why don’t we care and stop buying these products/services? Because we don’t know these people. If we met them then we would form some kind of emotional or intelectual bond with them. It’s how big businesses get away with charging an arm and a leg for their products/services because there is so much distance between their owners/committee/board members and their consumers that no kind of bond is made between the two and their conscience can stay “guilt free”. Most of the things we do because they are subjects to laws that are enforced by extreme penalties. Even when people are raised with the belief to do on to others as if you would want done to you, we still find ways to make excuses to justify what we want. If morals really were a factor, then capitalism and big business would hardly exist in this existance.
