OFFICIAL: Music Beta By Google Launches
As part of the keynote to it's I/O developer conference, Google announced the official launch of Music Beta By Google along with an online movie rental service. Google's Paul Joyce announced that the new free music locker includes a robust player that includes album art, playlists and a new playlist creator dubbed Instant Mix along with an upgraded Android music app.
Google will keep Music Beta By Google free "at least during beta". Users can upload as many as 20,000 songs at no cost.
The upgraded Android app's offline caching feature will include recently played songs along with selected artists and playlists. The locker's Instant Mix uses machine learning to create 25 song custom playlists after the user chooses a single song.
Google says that its operating system has been downloaded onto 100 million Android devices and that pace continues at the rate of 400,000 new installs per day.
