ScamTunes, I Mean, ZapTunes Is Back… Rebranding Itself As A Music Social Network

image from ww1.prweb.com ZapTunes, the despised music service, is being reborn as a social network. They're no longer offering free music downloads. This announcement is at odds with their previous press release that claimed they would be back "stronger, cheaper, and unlimited forever." That effort obviously failed. Not that this hurts their creditability, seeing as they didn't any to begin with.

The company attempted to scam users out of $25 a month for "unlimited music downloads." They even claimed that users could legally download the Beatles long before Apple gained such rights. In the next few days, we'll get to see them recreate Ping. Don't be surprised if ZapTunes asks for your credit card information before letting you chat in real-time with your friends in their newly created Artist Hubs. Don't be surprised either if the company disappears with all of your money.

Like TechCrunch, I consider writing about ZapTunes latest attempt to legitimatize itself as a music service a complete waste of time. Had it not been for my hope that people will find these articles in Google, realize they're a scam, and not give the company any money, I would not write a single word about their site. Ever.

Trust me, we'll review the new site. Stay tuned.
