Echo Nest To Power New BBC Music Channels
Music intelligence platform The Echo Nest has announced a deal with the British Broadcasting Corporation to power the clip-to-clip recommendations in the BBC's nw Music Showcase – a media aggregation hub that gathers all of their music and music-related video and audio clips. The partnership comes hot on the heels of Echo Nest's recent deal to develop music discovery opportunities with MTV Networks.
The Echo Nest technology cross-references the BBC's curated music content with artist relationships, online conversation and other data so that Music Showcase can deliver an optimized selection of music, videos, articles, blog posts and reviews. Much of the music featured in the BBC Music Showcase is original and cannot be found elsewhere. The new features will go live in the coming weeks.
As great as this is and I am genuinely impressed by what it can do, is this something the BBC can afford to be investing in?
