3 Familar Case Studies On The New Music Business
Time Magazine has conducted a few interviews with David Kuskek at Berklee College of Music. The result is three short case studies on the new music industry. They're familiar stories, but it's nice to see them told. Reporter Jacob Templin has done a great job at putting these pieces together. If extended out, they could make a compelling documentary. It's a reminder that there are still many stories to be told that people don't know. Many of the changes in music that we see as common, everyday knowledge aren't. The artists covered are Umphrey's McGee, Bonerama, and Jonathan Coulton.
Umphrey's McGee:
Bonerama:
Jonathan Coulton:
Umphrey’s – Text to screen is a bit cheesy, but if the fans enjoy it, that’s great. Note to bands: The Mobile Web is the future. (www.advamobile.com – this company is about to blow up, get your mobile site going now, and more importantly, USE IT).
Bonerama – House parties are awesome.
Coulton – make your fans your label – brilliant.
Great post…
Well done, guys! Everyone at Nimbit is thrilled with your success!!!
Notice that Bonerama is raising funds directly on their OWN website instead of sending them away to a separate fan funding site. http://boneramamusic.com/bonerama-store/#bonerdonor/allaccessbackstagepasses
