eMusic Hits 250M Downloads And 4.5M Tracks
eMusic announced that it has sold 250 million MP3 downloads since establishing its subscription model in 2003. The milestone comprises music downloads sold in the U.S., Canada and the E.U. where the service is available in 26 countries.
The company also says its catalog has hit 4.5 million tracks with the addition of Righteous Babe Records and Barsuk. Righteous Babe, owned by singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco, includes her catalog plus releases Andrew Bird, Arto Lindsay and others. Barsuk, the ten-year-old Seattle indie based, brings Mates of State, Ra Ra Riot, Nada Surf and the Long Winters.
